Forwarding

When you create LiveAgent account like yourdomainname.liveagent.se, you get a support email that looks like support@mail.yourdomainname.liveagent.se. Any email sent to this address gets automatically converted into a ticket which you can solve inside your LiveAgent panel. Since the address doesn't look very professional many people want to set up forwarding from an email account they set up on their hosting so customers could contact you for example at support@yourdomain.com and that would get forwarded to support@mail.yourdomainname.liveagent.se and a ticket would be created which you could answer and have the answer come from support@yourdomain.com

One way of setting up such scenario is with POP3/IMAP for email fetching and SMTP for sending. A more convenient way is with Forwarding and this article explains how you can set it up.

Forwarding Setup

Step 1: Navigate to Configuration>Email>Mail accounts and click on Add email account.

Step 2: Select "Other" and click on Forwarding box.

Step 3: Setup Forwarding on your hosting to forward e-mails to support@mail."yourdomainname".liveagent.se.

Step 4: Setup SPF record for your domain. Setup SPF record in your domain's DNS settings, specifically to TXT record. You need it to be sure, that your replies won't be recognized as spam. How you add the SPF record differs based on whether you already have some v=spf1 record there already or not. If you don't have any other spf record there then you can add this record into TXT:

v=spf1 redirect=_spf.ladesk.com

If you already have some SPF record there so for example your current SPF looks like this:

v=spf1 a mx include:_spf.websupport.sk ?all

then you need to append to this record also LiveAgent line with INCLUDE instead of REDIRECT so it would look like this:

v=spf1 a mx include:_spf.websupport.sk include:_spf.ladesk.com ?all

You can check whether the SPF record is propagated already with many different DNS checker tools, our favourite is https://www.whatsmydns.net/#TXT/ where you enter your domain name, hit search and see whether in the records over different geographical locations you see the correct SPF record including ladesk.com

Step 5: Don't forget to click Save.
